Fertility Test FAQ

Clear answers about Fruitful ovulation and pregnancy tests, repeat testing, and choosing the format that suits you.

How sensitive are Fruitful pregnancy tests?

Fruitful pregnancy tests detect hCG at 10mIU. That sensitivity applies to both our strip and midstream pregnancy tests.

How sensitive are Fruitful ovulation tests?

Fruitful ovulation tests detect LH at 20mIU. That sensitivity applies to both our strip and midstream ovulation tests.

Does a positive ovulation test confirm ovulation?

No. An ovulation test detects a rise in luteinizing hormone (LH). A positive result can help identify your fertile window, but an LH surge by itself does not confirm that an egg was released.

Can I use ovulation tests if my cycles are irregular or I have PCOS?

You can use ovulation tests with irregular cycles, but you may need to test across a longer window. Some people with PCOS can have elevated LH or more than one LH rise, which can make results harder to interpret. If your results are consistently confusing, consider discussing them with a health professional.

What’s the difference between strip and midstream tests?

Within each test type, the stated sensitivity is the same. Strip tests are Fruitful’s best-value option for frequent testing and are dipped into a urine sample. Midstream tests can be used directly in the urine stream, making them the more convenient option.

Why does Fruitful sell larger test packs?

Because TTC often means testing more than once. Larger packs reduce the cost per test and make it easier to test across a cycle without feeling like you need to ration every strip.

Can an early negative pregnancy test become positive later?

Yes. hCG rises after implantation, so a urine test taken very early may not yet detect enough hCG to show a positive result. Follow the instructions supplied with your tests and retest at the recommended interval if appropriate.

Is the Complete Guide to Getting Pregnant really free?

Yes. The Complete Guide is a free digital PDF. Add it to your cart and complete the $0 checkout to receive the digital download.

How are Fruitful orders sent?

Fruitful packs orders discreetly and ships from New Zealand.

Are Fruitful tests or guides a substitute for medical advice?

No. Our tests and educational content provide information to support your TTC journey, but they are not a substitute for personalised medical advice, diagnosis or treatment.
