How do Ovulation tests work?

Our EC-certified ovulation predictor kits work by detecting your body’s monthly LH surge — the sharp rise in luteinizing hormone that happens right before ovulation. LH is the hormone that triggers the release of an egg from the ovary. When your test shows an LH surge, it means ovulation is about to happen and you are in your most fertile window.

Because an egg can only be fertilised for around 6–24 hours after ovulation, knowing when your LH surge occurs is one of the most effective ways to time intercourse and increase your chances of conception.
